Viking Direct Customer Service
Back in January I order a new desk for my home office and a filing cabinet for my ever growing paper work of scripts, tutorials etc.
About four weeks after I had place my order and yet to receive anything I phoned them up to see what the story was. They said it had been delayed or something and would be on in the next week or so.
The order finally did arrive albeit minus the filing cabinet, I wasn’t bothered as I finally had a proper to work on. However when it failed to arrive a few weeks later I got on the phone again and somehow it was still in Dublin and had been returned.
Then the shocking thing happened, I was naturally pissed off by all this and let the girl on customer service know. She then asked me if I wanted the item cancelled! What? Is this how you value my custom? Cancel my order? No I want my bloody filing cabinet and you should be doing every thing possible to make sure I get it. So she reordered it and I was due to have it in the next week or so.
A few weeks later I called again but nothing much seemed to be happening and to be honest it went out of my mind until I was going through my credit card statements and noticed I’d been billed for this filing cabinet that never arrived. It was now May, four months on from when the order had been placed.
I picked up the phone again and rang them but this time I had enough and I asked to speak to the manager. I got on to a man called Conor and told him the story, he was shocked that this was still going on and said he’d look into it straight away.
He got back to me and said it would be on by the end of the week and that he would give it to me at a 50% discount and pay it back to me. Naturally enough it didn’t arrive by the end of the week and I phoned Conor up the following week and again he was shocked, as he had been promised I would have it.
Then on the Thursday a van pulled into the yard and it was my order, I was a bit surprised at how big the packaging was and on closer inspection noticed that it was and desk I had already received which arrive. I told the driver not to bother unloading and take it away.
I phoned Conor up again and he said that there had been a mix up and promised to send out the cabinet straight away.
Few days later it finally arrived! Great wouldn’t think? Eh no, as soon as I opened it I noticed a dent on the top corner, which prevented the top drawer from opening and closing properly.
On to the phone again to Conor I went and told him while it had finally arrived four months late that he should arrange for it to be collected again. As he though that this was a joke he offered me the remaining 50% back and I could get another.
As that particular cabinet was out of stock he asked me to pick out a replacement. The one I had order was a two-drawer cabinet. He asked me did I want a two or three drawer cabinet, I though for a second and said three. This cabinet was about double the value to the original.
The cabinet arrived the following day and was in good condition. So it ended well enough for me in the end (finally).
